Builds Self Esteem BAND EXPERIENCE!
Students are grouped into bands by age, level of experience and/or musical preference. Each band is under the direction of a band manager/teacher. Students form lasting friendships as they play music together, write and perform. You may request in advance to be placed in a band with friends and the School of Rock will do its best to make this happen. SUMMER 2012
Students learn to express their ideas through music and lyric writing. Bands are guided through a team-oriented process of writing, rehearsing and performing their original songs. This collaborative experience encourages teamwork and cooperation.
The students will have a complete hands-on experience recording a professional CD using pro multitracking tech- niques, learning how to overdub guitar solos, vocals and more. They will use top-of-the-line recording equipment. They will learn everything from microphone placement to setting up a session in Pro Tools and will receive a completed CD at the end of their first concert. Summer 2011
All bands perform two concerts. The first is at Atlas studios (this is where sessions are held) at 8:00pm on the Friday evening at the end of the week’s session they attend. It is a fun and informal way of showing family and friends how far they have progressed. The second concert is held at The Phoenix Theater in Petaluma, CA the 2nd Sunday in August 2012 at 5pm. All bands from the summer sessions will be performing. Both concerts are mandatory. Rehearsals for the final concert at the Phoenix Theater are up to the bands themselves. Atlas Studios will provide a space to rehearse if necessary
The Phoenix Theater concert will be professionally filmed by Burning Token Multimedia using high- end HD cameras. They will edit and produce a concert DVD that all students will receive 2-4 weeks after the final event.
Each band will have an opportunity to shoot a real music video with Audio Video Crew. The A/V Crew will come during each band session and film the bands during rehearsals, recording, concerts and create a personalized theme for each band. The A/V crew will take the best studio recording and sync it to all of the footage they shoot throughout the session. All students will receive this music video DVD 2-4 weeks after the final concert. www.youtube.com/atlasschoolofrock
